First week of (home)School!

We officially started our 2 day a week homeschool preschool program! So far it is going GREAT! The kids both love it and my little girl is loving every minute of learning. Our schedule is Monday/Wednesday and we are going to do field trips on Fridays.

Here is a rough outline of our schedule:

1. Opening/Calendar/Day of the Week/Month of the Year
2. Weather (we have a cute weather chart where we can change the arrows to point to what the weather is....this may be their favorite thing!)
3. Memory Verse (using the one that they are studying from our church's program) I put it to song and the kids were almost singing the whole thing after a few times.
4. Letter of the Week.... starting with A of course! J practices here upper case and lower case A's and then we look for words that begin with A. After this, I read about an animal that starts with A and do some reading comprehension regarding what we read. So far we've read about the Armadillo and Anteater.
5. Number of the Week...similar to the letter of the week.
6. Drawing/Coloring....I got a great book from the library that teaching kids to draw simple things like trees, animals, princess castles, insects... J is really progressing with the drawing and is quite the artist already!
7. Story time or Craft
8. Play time outside

The whole lesson takes around an hour. J would love for it to be longer...but it's a good time and I am glad it is going so well!
